Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Director to lead the creative vision and design of our upcoming FPS shooter mobile game. 

We are currently working on a very ambitious mobile extraction shooter game largely based out of Bangalore, India.

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with the development, art, and production teams to create engaging and innovative gameplay experiences. You will specifically focus on delivering a great core loop gameplay experience that includes both great gameplay and systems design appropriate for mobile game experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design team in implementing and iterating core loop game mechanics, features, and systems that enhance the FPS shooter experience on mobile devices
  • Collaborate with the art team to establish and maintain a cohesive visual style and user interface that aligns with the game’s theme and target audience
  • Collaborate with the company’s Chief Creative Officer to translate the game theme and creative vision into a functioning game within the constraints of the project.
  • Work with the development team to ensure that design concepts are technically feasible and optimized for mobile platforms
  • Conduct market research and analyze competitor games to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive game design documents, including feature specifications, gameplay balancing, and progression systems
  • Oversee the creation and iteration of prototypes and playable builds to validate design concepts and gather feedback
  • Collaborate with the production team to establish and maintain project timelines, milestones, and deliverables
  • Mentor and guide junior designers, fostering a culture of creativity, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Participate in playtesting sessions and gather feedback from internal and external stakeholders to refine and polish the game experience

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a game designer or design director, with a strong portfolio of successful mobile games, preferably in the FPS shooter genre
  • Deep understanding of FPS game mechanics, level design, and balancing for mobile platforms
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven design decisions
  • Proficiency with game design tools such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or other relevant software
  • Knowledge of mobile game monetization strategies and user acquisition techniques
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and collaborating with remote teams
  • Passion for mobile gaming and a deep understanding of the FPS shooter genre and its player base
  • Bachelor’s degree in game design, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
